SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Since clicking on various links in Secret Leeds postingsover the las week,I find that extra web pages seem to have attachedthemselves to this site.I have had a 'Be Naughty' dating agency,'UK Game Onno.64848',A weight loss Clinic (USA?), 'Adult friend finder' etc.These pages seem to hide behind the page I link ontoand appear in full after closing down the linked site.Thankfully,my email prog isn't affected and I would hate tobecome inundated with spam as I was with my previousprovider.Are these legitimate advertising sites now on Secret Leeds?I hope not!Perhaps SL Admin can help?            

You probably have some spyware or trojan on your machine.S.L. does not have hidden adverts.

As Brunel says Arry, you've got summat nasty lurking in your machine.Can you do a scan of the hard drive to see if anything is lurking? A lot of anti-virus software helps protect against spyware too - sounds as though you might need a clean-up and something more aggresive installing.

A few freebie progs. that might help. Install and run cleaner two three times, remember to run it at least weeklyhttp://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ANTI SPYWARE:Download free version, UPDATE it,.. I bet you been looking at those buxom girl websites Arry.There full of spyware (not that i'd know of course ha ha)

Arry, been using AVG on our machines for some time now and nothing has arrived that shouldn't do. The more this stuff does and looks at will tend to slow some things down - we switched off the link scanner (the bit that puts the green 'ok' blobs on search results). This hasn't resulted in letting anything through that shouldn't but certainly brought things back up to speed (so to speak) - maybe worth trying.

Yes as brunel says Arry you wont go far wrong with malwarebytes and ccleaner i also have used superantispyware when ive been fixing friends computers for them.The last one i fixed coincidently had a similar problem with one of the so called 'free' anti virus programs and could i buggery get it offI ended up having to wipe the HDD and reinstall the OS i will tell you now i would be very wary of buying anything online with the computer arry before you get it properly sorted out.The key thing here is prevention is better(and far cheaper)than the cure.I used to use AVG myself up until they started holding you to ransom for the updates now i use norton and i haven't had a problem in 4 years.

Updates come through Brandy though they do have an annoying habbit of repeatedly trying to instal their toolbar on your browser - and yes, you don't find out straight away that the upgrades in their pop-ups cost you a bob or two. Other than that, doin' fine and if it's good enough for the little boy, it'll do for me (he gets to put it right if it goes wrong anyways )
