The YEP has a daily 'Your Picture Of The Day' feature. Today's (Dec 7 2020) is "A view of the River Aire from the Knights Bridge in Leeds". I feel sure that it was not taken from there but was taken from the Centenary Bridge footbridge by Brewery Wharf. I would be grateful if anyone can please confirm or not that the view is from the Centenary Bridge looking down river towards Crown Point Bridge.
PS. I did not know of the Knights Bridge name but I found it is a footbridge over the River Aire by the Royal Armouries. That bridge seems also to be known as Knight's Bridge and Knights/Knight's Way Bridge.
Edit added on December 15 2020. Being nearby today (Dec 15 2020) I went to Centenary Bridge and confirmed that the picture used by the YEP is definitely a view from Centenary Bridge.

The YEP today (Feb 10 2021) has a photo on page 12 showing Leeds Bridge but that is wrong as it shows Crown Point Bridge. For a local paper with expected local knowledge the YEP is often not very good at getting or checking the right name for bridges!

was the 'Commercial Manager' of the Yorkshire Post and my great aunt kept this edition.

I love how in the paper's recognition of him they describe him as the history of the Yorkshire Post with him working for the Leeds Intelligencer before that. I also like that he apparently had "the best characteristics of a Yorkshireman" and the paper's description of the turnout in Beeston that came out to line the roads to show their respect.

"Hundreds of the villagers came out to honour the memory of an old Beeston lad...it passed between rows of simply clad folk, the men in their homespun, the women with shawls on their heads".

When did we ever (in our time) think of Beeston as a village? I just love the image the funeral conjurs up :)

I've had long running "discussions" with Arriva's customer services over the insistence of their media team (twitter and facebook at least) referring to Tetley Bridge when mentioning Service diversions in Leeds. They just won't accept no such bridge exists in Leeds. I think they probably mean Crown Point but as I point out Leeds Bridge is as near to the expansive former brewery site and is probably nearer to the Tetley which I think is the only branded indication the bewery used to be there. I believe the media team is at Arriva's UK HQ in Luton :?

It is reported that from April 29 2022 the group company name owning the YEP will change from JPIMedia Publishing Ltd to National World Publishing Ltd.
