Coming back from Otley today, we left the A660 at Bramhope and travelled the"scenic route" up past Mone Bros and down by the other entrance to Golden Acre Park.At one of the road junctions was an official looking yellow sign saying "Road Closed: Road Race Sunday 12th July 09:00 - 12:00".Now, as luck would have it I've got to pick my sister up from Leeds Bradford Aerodrome on Sunday at 11:30, so was planning on travelling up there. A search of the council, YEP and Leedstravel.info websites reveal not a solitary mention of any road closures or indeed any road races this Sunday. Clearly good work by all involved once again, coming on the heels of the criticism of the publicity surrounding road closures at the Jane Tomlinson run recently. Can anyone on here shed any light on what is going on and perhaps more importantly, what other roads are likely to be affected? The obvious answer is to hope that Otley Road is open as usual (even though it does add quite a dog leg to the journey).

Hot today isn't it? What about tomorrow though? My daughter (and thousands of others) is running in the Leeds 10K race (Sunday 14th July). Good luck to her and everyone else taking part. I hope that all the runners get to the finish line with no mishaps and raise tons of cash for charity. Avoid the route unless you are taking part - it'll be chock-a-block.
