I forget what the actual official one was:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4DZoOSsgoWas in the 24th Leeds at Seacroft Methodist Church. cira late 70s, where there was both a Boy's and Girl's Brigade there.No idea if they still exist, the wiki page suggests they do but i haven;t seen any BB in this country since god knows when.    

I know I am being pedantic but the titles are/were actually "Boys' Brigade" and "Girls' Brigade". The latter titles allow for more than one member per brigade!!

All in the slip of the dreaded apostrophy - punctuation can change so much:An English professor wrote these words - "A woman without her man is nothing", on the chalkboard and asked his students to punctuate it correctly. That was in 1940to 1942! I joined the juniors,who were called 'Life Boys' (NOT Buoys!)I had a Sailor's cap and a navy blue Jersey with a badgeon the front, depicting a lifebelt(buoy!)surrounding anAnchor. Why they changed to 'Anchor Boys' we'll never know,There were some quite rude changes made on the board outside Sandford Church, when it was open( Now derelict)!They also had Guides and Brownies etc. When the church closed several years ago the BB etc,transferred to the Trinity on Bramley Town Street,along withthe Sandford congregation. By the way, The newly refurbishedTrinity Church is Reopening in July, much to the relief ofthe church members who were evacuated,temporarily, toSt Peter's Hough Lane, by kind permission of the Church Council.I'm sure the Boys Brigade is still functioning and should return to the Trinity Methodist Church when it opens.I was actually in the 10th Leeds BB Company at the WoodsleyRd.Methodist Church.After 1942 I joined the Army Cadets at Blenheim School.until joining up in 1947! We had a Girls'Life Brigade unit there tooand much fun was had in our 'get togethers'! They were verysmart lasses (Had to be with us lusty squaddies around!) As for girls being allowed in The BB I don't remember everseeing any in the ranks in Leeds! Maybe it happened afterthe sex discrimination acts came law!

(Dangly things).Sounds about right for the subject! lol!I use that as a lead in, to anyone interested,that me and'Er indoors' are off for 7 nights holiday to Torquay startringthis Saturday, the 6th. (They don't mention the days!!),We return Sat the 13th full of cream teas,scrumpy and mebbea Devonshire 'clanger' or two (a pasty, baked with meat atone end and jam in the other!) A meal in itself!Hope I'm not missed too much! Consider it a week's Restfrom my ramblings!CU Sunday then, if the pasties are still fresh!Cheers 'Arry an' 'Er!
