The Wharfedale Observer has a column each week called "Across the years" With news reports from their archives,this one from from 1884 made me smile."A rather novel method of sweeping chimmneys was tried at Kelcliffe Mount Guiseley.The resident being unable to get the chimmney sweep to come and sweep his chimmney,engaged a man to fire a gun down it.He happened to fire down the wrong chimmney and the effect of this was that an enamelled slate fireplace was knocked down and other damage was done"I bet it was!
