I'd just like to say that these spammers need to be stopped NOW. I was a moderator on a forum for The Beautiful South(band), and we started getting stuff like this on our board within 6 months the board was inundated with spammers every day. From shoes to insurance to hard core porn. Every board was over-run everyday by them. And eventually the forum had to be shut down. Most of the time they are spam-bots(not real peeps). So something needs to be put in place at registration to stop them applying. If this means admin approving registration so be it, or some code thing that spam-bots can't read, but if nothing is done then I can see this forum going the same way as others. I hope NOT!

I agree Chris. We were supposed to be having a few mods appointed but nothing seems to have happened in that department so far.

Chris and others - chatted to few folk, I'm going to write to Duncan and try to prompt some quick delegation to let us manage these attacks at least - and preserve our sacred siteWe all know this isn't admins 'day job' and they have other responsibilities but I'm sure they don't want to see their efforts to date go down the pan. Let's hope they'll come on board with this now.

I'm on here everyday, I might be persuaded to take an admin/moderator job. I have done it before and am a moderator on another forum still, albeit a very quiet one. so there's not much moderating to do.

if everyone treats this spammer with the curtesy it deserves by totally ignoring it they will eventually move on to some other unsuspecting website. Caution do not visit their site.
