My wife and I had a mooch round Pudsey on Sunday afternoon. I was pleased to see that the former Woolworth store has been re-opened under new management - can't recall the name - B & M Bargains? Went in for a look-see, and apart from a food section, it was almost just like Woolies. No pick n'mix sweets, but very similar sort of merchandise. Has this firm taken over any other ex-Woolies premises? The former Ilkley store was firmly closed last Saturday.I hope the new venture is successful, as I've a very soft spot for Pudsey, and a prime site standing empty wouldn't have done it much good. But, if Woolies failed with a similar format, how long will its successor last?

We have a B&M up here. There are bargains to be had but you have to be selective. Often there's stuff on the shelves that other stores have discontinued. You can get brand name cosmetics in colours that haven't sold for instance. I'm sure you'll all be interested in that! Or other brand name innovations that haven't taken off - pricey cereal bars for 10p, stuff like that. I bought some sheepskin insoles two for a quid but measure them round your feet when cutting - don't go by the dotted lines! Best bargain is Crawford's Cheddars. The plonk ain't cheap.
