I have noticed every week usually, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, the Rag and Bone men take a visit down my street here in the North East. Not sure if they are different ones, but some of them are in a pickup van and an older gentleman with a flatcap goes on horse and trailer - And they actually seem to do quite well!Has anybody else seen these or others?

Try having a skip outside your house as I did recently and you'll certainly see em!!Nothing stayed in it for more than an hour! I could have saved myself the cost of the skip by just putting it in a pile on the drive. I saw a rag and bone man on a horse and cart in Otley a few months back, quite unusual now.

If I recall correctly, Leeds rag and bone men used to shout [croak]:'Eahragbown?' Sadly I never heard any of them say, 'I've had a terrible day'.

There's been a big kafuffle about these new skool R&B men down here in t'Midlands. They just wander into peoples gardens and take anything they seem to think is scrap. Also now-a-days they need a licence to move waste (inc scrap) and it is very doubtful they will have them, so they are breaking the law!!
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.

My sister took off a radiator whilst decorating and stood it in the garden, she looked out to see two blokes loading it onto their scrap van but caught them and got it back.If it's not nailed down they'll take it. I think most in my area are from a nearby travellers site, they hovver round like vultures and do go looking round peoples gardens as my sister found out!
