There was another nice resteraunt on Upper Briggate called Le Carousel I think.The food there was quite good in the 60's!

First 'proper' restaurant I ever went to was the 'Peony'! it was in a basement opposite W H Smiths

I remember going to a Chinese restaurant in about 1963 near the Wrens pub with my mates. It was called something like the Golden Ball. I think we all used to have Beef Chow Mien. But I definitely remember having loads of Tetleys first.
