Last saturday was one of the 'Open Days' at St Aidens at the largest preserved walking dragline in Western Europe during the summer of 2008A note for your diary if you are interested in visiting again this year ........ the next open days will be on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September 2008 at St Aidens Opencast Coal Site, Swillington 2pm - 4pm

There are Arriva buses that run nearer than the very long walk from the stop at Swillington church. Not sure which route but it's a fairly safe bet to assume that they're going to / from Castleford. Probably the 163/166/168?
