I've just noticed your comment about the monks trampling across the moor Tasa. Thanks for the info, It was just the kind of thing that made me think this old footpath might have a long history before the 1851 map. Cheers Here's a good detail map of the area with footpaths included. I found it on a very interesting Leeds City Council conservation document about Weetwood herehttp://www.leeds.gov.uk/files/Internet2007/201 ... .pdf**It's very interesting, well put together with lots of history on the area with glossy colour photos. Infact a lot of Leeds are covered with these L.C.C conservation PDF documents that can be found listed on the right here**http://www.leeds.gov.uk/Leisure_and_cul ... s.aspxI'll make a new thread about these in the general chat section as I think they are a good source of information for Secret Leeds as a whole. Take a look guys and girls, I'm sure your area will be included.

IanofotleyGlad you like them - I'd often passed them over the years on Meanwood Valley cycle route but never knew where they went and so only used Delph Ln. Found them and worked it out on Geoorg. The site is useful as there is always a clickable map under the photo, which you can then zoom & drag, it's OS.Your comment on Chemic pub name set me a new puzzle on the mill stream just north of meanwood beck.I looked on old-maps.co.uk and found the chemical works thanks. Then moved north using postcode LS7 2QG (meanwood farm) looked around. Nowadays, visible on googlemap, the Alwoodley cycle route passes through the farm taking you to Bus'Lne. Looking at the old map this seems to be between the winding beck and the mill stream. I had noticed at higher level old stoneworks but assumed that to be a path linking in to Scott Hall St/Bus'Lne? Or is it the much higher mill stream.

Looking at old maps, it appears that this is where the ginnel met Wetherby Road?http://snipurl.com/tcjo9 To confirm:- a mate lives there and says that under the trees at end of gardens is some form of stone pathway.

I vividly remember walking up Elmete Walk and thinking how posh the houses were, they looked really new then. That ginnel was always so cool on a hot day and Im sure it was flagged with stone ,we used to jump over the cracks. Great days.

philld post Posted on: 08-Aug-2011 11:22:26Your photos of ginnel to right of gatehouse going north off weetwood lane.I've walked & cycled it as a shortcut from Weetwood roundabout over the sports ground and down onto weetwood lane> Meanwood Trail.Car drivers coming into Leeds / down weetwood ln beware:- the path continues over W'wood lane just after the left bend. There's a gap in the wall, takes you down to Meanwood Park. Kids walk up heading for Lawnswood school.
