Hm! Think I've been censored! If not,my lastposting yesterday ain't appeared! Wasn't THAT bad was it?Re-hash forthcoming!I said that we kept our side-hats on with loads of 'Gum-Arabic' on our hair. Job to get yer hat off after parade though! The correct way with a forage cap was to wear it TDC (top-dead-centre),which made one look like 'The Tin Man' in Over TheRainbow!I also noted another Robb Wilton sketch ,almost the samescript, but applied to the Auxilliary Fire Service(or Mebbe the'Firewatcher' Service of ARP!?). in which Robb was on 'Control'and got a message from an outpost saying nobody had turned upyet and a fire had started close by and what should he do?Robb says,'Well, can't you keep it going till the rest turn up!'priceless!I'll leave out the Mule bit that may have been 'Blue-pencilled'!OK? boss?

Samson wrote: Sorry I made a ******* of that.I meant to say that Arry's picture was great and then post this one up.Now before anyone gets banned from the forum, this is me on Muffin The Mule, so I would not comment as it will get you into trouble!!! LOLActually it is all Leeds as I think it was taken in Lewis's in around 1954. I have a large version of the picture at home, but tend to keep it hidden!!I do not know if I dare ask this, but has anyone else had their photo taken on Muffin??(If so post up!) Yeaaa! Muffin in the Grotto at Lewis's! This came up in an old thread abot the Real Santa Claus at Lewis's -searched high and low for the picy of me on the old fella but didn't find it.Had the same thoughts as you too Samson, expecting dsco to be poised over the delete button when we talked of our experiences and Muffin the Mule. Thankfyully he was understanding!

Chameleon,Yes it was in the 'Grotto' but obviously I can remember little of it now. Hundreds of kids must have had their pictures taken there. I think we had to queue as well. I remember it was my mother who took me and she was giving me grief for not sitting properly on the mule. I am pretty certain my mother knit the scarf I was wearing. What a change from today. If only I had a Tardis I could go back.(Will try and find the old thread)
Born in East leeds, then lived in Halton and aged 20 moved to Tyneside
