English and Greek are the secondary languages, although Greek has been dropped in recent years. I guess we can demand the English language to be heard first in stadiums around the world for every sport that originated in England then, like football and cricket??No the English are far too sporting like that, as for the French, well just don't mention English meat or the Maginot Line Actually, I think French is the primary language of global soccer as well, as FIFA is based in Switzerland Cricket you're fairly safe on. In fact the game almost requires a knowledge of English.

For these games they are amateurs. For the rest of the year they're blatant mercenaries trying to earn as much cash as possible or even hold down a job. Once selected, they will receive accomodation and travelling expenses, food allowances(in line with their requirements for the particular sport),official clothing.......the "top"competitors will probably already have the use of a pre-games(naturally) sponsored vehicle.I would imagine LOCOG would put restrictive use to this though to curtail sponsorship deals becoming known in the public domain to the detriment of official games sponsors. The real bonanza starts after any games where a particular individual or team has secured a medal.I don't have an issue with that but it surely contradicts the whole ethos and spirit of the Olympic movement in general.Still, for those at the top of your game......get it while you can. It's a short lived career in Sport,in the main......there are huge rewards in the "afterlife" however for those capable of securing top media positions, film and book deals and the like ! Golden girl Jess Ennis has reportedly already earned over £1 million this year, before the Olympics. Fair play to her I say - a decade or more of total commitment to training for a career that (if she is lucky and stays injury free) will probably only last another 2 to 4 years at most.I would imagine that whilst the incentive of winning Olympic Gold is huge, earning enough money to move out of Sheffield and never return will probably be her main focus.
