I know. I used to work in advertising.Reminds me of an ad we did years ago for Talbot cars (remember them?) Even though the headline ran, "The New Talbot Horizon L. From only £3000," the client insisted that the illustrated car would be a top of the range GLX-S, with a tiny disclaimer at the bottom of the page - "GLX-S illustrated." One day, we presented him with the same ad, but with a different picture of a car. The disclaimer read, "Ferrari Testarossa illustrated."

The salesman giving the 28k quote was willing to drop to 18k providing I gave him 50% deposit there and then! He turned quite nasty when I declined and told him to do one.

My elderly mum law asked a local independant for a conservatory quote. Un usable size offered at £10K. when we found out we asked if this included the advertised oap 60% discount - seems you had to ask for it, the new quote didn't come near 40%. A suggestion that T Stnds comment brought an offer of a larger conservatory and two replacement windows for the same cost. amazing!

I live on a very steep hill in Morley and our grit bin has not been filled since the last lot. According to Radio Leeds it's to turn to rain overnight - hope they're right - I've had enough for this year. Sack Paul Hudson is what I say

Sorry to disappoint you Trojan but snow is due back next week. With regards to your Grit Bin,no grit bins have been filled in Leedsfor the last month and will not be filled in the near future either. The Govt have taken over the allocation of salt distribution and it is only sent to depots around the country on an adhoc basis. If it's any consolation to you Counc.Carters car was bumped about 3/4 weeks ago when 2 cars slid into it on an untreated road.we are on a traffic light system for salt deliveries.Green= More than 4 Days supply left= No DeliveryAmber=2to3 Days supply left= You might Get a deliveryRed= You will get a delivery- but only to replace what you just used.No Grit Bins or Secondary routes to be done.Actual Salt spread on Primary Routes has been reduced by 33%.Until further notice. And I guarantee we will have Snow next week.
