I watched 'Dalziel & Pascoe' last night (21Jun 07) and was sure I spotted the Leeds Canal Basin as the location where a body was dumped...Was I right?

Another Fat Friends filming location - Leodis restaurant. It was the restaurant that Jamie worked in.I had a friend that lived at 8 (I think!) Bainbrigge Road, in Headingley. Their portch was used to film a scene for At Home With The Braithwaites. In the scene it was meant to be a house in York. It didn't take too long to film, and they were given a crate of beer for it.

Hi, Dalziel and Pascoe is set in Leeds and Yorkshire, but I think it is filmed in Birmingham or somewhere that way.

Havn't a clue if its interesting for you but Leeds was mentioned ages ago in a german soap opera. I think it was Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten or Verbotene Liebe. I was very surprised about it but also a bit angry. I mean Leeds shouldnt be mentioned in a german series. Thats daft innit?

There was a film about footballers (I think by Kay Mellor) that used West Leeds High School for its club, police station and a few other things. And, on Wesley Road there used to be some old streets leading off. I lived on Oriental Street and the house facing ours was the one that they used for the opening shot on Rising Damp (front door). Funny thing was that their house was lovely inside. I wonder how they felt when they saw what their door was supposed to open into

Everywhere I wore a Leeds Utd shirt, locals would come up to me and talk about Leeds. Mind you, that's the same in every country I've visited (even Albania!) - and that's a LOT! Leeds is almost as famous world wide as London - and a sight more well known than most British Cities.

Ask somebody around my hometown. Nobody will know where Leeds is, or even WHAT Leeds is. Maybe in the bigger cities. At the Frequency Festival last year I saw somebody who was wearing a Leeds United shirt and started screaming "marching on together" he was so happy. We talked about Leeds, music and football etc.

City Square - Tom Courtney and Rodney Bewes walking through and chatting...by the way, the square had its original granite baulistrades in the scene which were removed in the late 60s ...and re-discovered and replaced a few years ago.The Headrow was also used for the scene where billy imagines he is leader of his own country and is taking part in a celebration parade. I've heard a whisper that Billy Liar is set for a limited cinema re-release in August. That has to be worth a visit to the multiplex to see Leeds up on the big screen in all it's 60's splendour, doesn't it?It's showing on the Showcase website as a coming attraction but no specific screenings are listed yet. Must try and remember to keep an eye out for it.
