If it was I'm sure we would have got one for three times the original price that couldn't fulfill it's function and needed radical refurbishment after 18 months due to a failure of the innovative roof design?I'm sure there must have been some other involvement to stop them before it was too late. The Childrens Hospital was to do with the local health trust,so i dont think we can blame the council for that. The pool fiasco was actually the bathing pool itself, rather than the roof. The pool had a moveable floor in one section, wher it could (ha ha ha) be lowered to a depth suitable for diving. The mechanism cocked up pretty quickly, and was left unworkable,in fact im not too sure if they fixed it.If only there was another option for a diving section in a swimming pool, one which was adjacent to,but roped off from, the main pool. One that could be built already deeper than the rest of the pool for diving, especially off multi height diving poistionsIf only someone could come up with something like that,oh wait a minute,it would be a good idea if it was in the city centre as well so everyone in Leeds could get to it.Cant see it happening though, not with the price of land in the city centre and all that. Yes I'd forgotten about the new pool, I took it Cardi was referring to the Poulson copper-clad sieve.

Had a look at the exhibition today. Found a display board some 2m square with large versions of the computer-generated impressions from the paper and a large map telling you where it will be. There is also a rather abstract site model made from plain wooden blocks and a questionaire allowing you to give your answers to their questions about your thoughts - oh, and a very enthusiastic young man talking.

Saw Fabian Hamilton,North Leeds MP,on platform of Wakey Station, getting on my train.Had a four minute layover so i nipped back (you know me!!)and had a very brief word with Fabian Hamilton today about the arena funding from Yorkshire Forward, funnily enough he wanted to talk longer than i could as i had to get back to the pointy end of my choo choo (its all technical on the railway)Basically he said that the YEP are making it out that our city MPs were doing nothing about this,or the HS link. This is not the case he assured me,and that much is going on behind the scenes, and that he had spoken to Gordon Brown about the arena itself.I raised th concern that the original go ahead to the Yorkshire forward decision was August, then put back to September and that now it was October. His answer didnt fill me with a great deal of hope, the phrases "government cutbacks" and "current economic climate"crept in to the brief conversation.Hes given me his card and asked me to drop him a line and that hell give as much info as he can, cant say any fairer than that.

If you wanted a reason not to vote labourhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/8300171.stmAn unelected and twice disgraced person of dubious parentage and the sheffield mp mafia have put the Leeds arena at risk. What's wrong Mandy don't you like the political constitution of Leeds Council. At least they were elected unlike you
