I am not totally convinced that the location of the 'Nellies' is correct, so if anyone has a memory please let me know and of course why a row of houses were called 'Nellie' I have an old 'A-Z' that shows them - there was a 'Nellie Crescent' and a 'Nellie View' They were at the bottom of Upper Accomodation road near the junction with Sussex Street.I assume they were so named simply after the girl's name - Adjacent streets were named 'Elsie' 'Bertha' and 'Ada'. on the opposite side of Upper Accomodation road there were streets named after boys -'Walter' and 'Harry'!!
