Hi Reginal Perrin even the post man now puts junk through the letter box.Twice this week we have had junk mail put through our letter box three items one day and two the next, none had our address on it whats all this about.I am thinking about saveing it untill i get a big amount then putting it in a letter box see what they make of that. Simple - they get paid to deliver it, no sorting, easy money. Unless I'm mistaken, you can register (rather like the Telephone Preference Service) not to receive mailing list stuff, but then, you might just miss something worth having!

Found this on the website today, about the bin men being on strike:http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 0485.jp"He said a reduction in sick leave among refuse workers – currently an average of 29 days a year per employee – would have to be reduced."If the reduction has to be reduced doesn't that mean that the amount of sick leave will have to be increased?

A double negative but no, it means just the resultant reduction in days would be smaller, but I see what you meanThere has been an earlier report where the statement was quoted properly rather than as appears, paraphrased by good old YP!

I used to live in Marlborough Towers tll Jan '07. I lived there for 15 years and in all that time we never got 1 copy of the Weekly News. No one on the estate got it. I phoned the YEP one day to find out why and they said it was cos the estate has a LS1 postcode and they don't deliver to the city centre. I even offered to deliver copies on the estate if they brought them and they said no.
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.

It hasn't been delivered here in over 10 years. Used to be they'd get someone to deliver it, then they'd all turn up dumped in the haddon hall carpark. Then a guy would come round and check up, then it would all happen the same again.I guess at some point they just gave up.

I meant to post this earlier, but this week the same story (about a collision on York Road between a car and a mobility scooter) was in the same edition THREE times. And then a story about a pensioner getting escorted trips to the supermarket has been repeated on seperate nights this last week too.Still, they've found a reason to run yet another story about 'Gruens Gates' at Cross Gates again tonight

My most bizarre - I can't really say fond, memory of the Y.E.P is when I was visiting me Gran once a week after school. In the days when it did actually arrive in the evening. She used to get her address book and pen ready, then when she heard the paper land on the mat, scoot into the hall to get it. Turned to the obituary pages and looked through them, occationally the address book would be opened and some unfortunate person would be crossed out with what seemed like relish!Gave me a bit of a shiver! She was lovely was me Gran but I could never get over the glee she had when she'd outlived another old biddy When she died in 1990 I thought of her name being crossed out of address books all round Leeds and it made me sad. I've never bought the paper since apart from Thursdays when I was looking for work.Must be an old people thing, can't really blame the paper for it - but still, I'm scarred for life!

The papers credibility meanders on.Earlier this week an incident on the A64 involving an invalid scooterwas reported THREE times on varying pages. The spelling and grammar disasters seem to get worse(worser?)
