There are rumours (strong ones) that a certain Kelner fellow is to be the new BBC Radio Leeds Breakfast presenter from July.

A couple of years ago he said on his website that the Beeb local radio in the north (he also used to do a stint on Radio Sheffield and Manchester I think) had told him they didn't think his style fitted with the new culture of the organisation. Presumably there's been a "culture change" (that OU Management course wasn't wasted after all )

There are culture changes at Radio Leeds every so many years (same with all BBC local radio and probably independent too). Martin Kelner is a strong radio personality in Leeds and Yorkshire, and it's bloody stupid to leave him out of it.

Hope Martin is the new breakfast presenter ! having said that I don't particularly dislike Andrew and Georgey as much as some people. Now Liz Green, Daragh, thats a differant story !

The 'news' this afternoon at 4.30pm"A train has derailed in northern Italy killing 5 people. The train was delayed by a landslide...sorry, been derailed by a landslide. The incident happened near the Australian border....sorry, the Austrian border."I kid you not. PS - not sure what this had to do with the local news either, but never mind. Given the tone of their content since the election was announced I'm surprised they didn't blame David Cameron.....

It's been confirmed - Martin Kelner doing Monday-Thursday Breakfast, Alex Belfield doing mornings (he's already started), Liz Green and not sure who is doing drivetime yet. Word is Andrew Edwards. Georgey may be going night-time, with Kelner doing Friday nights. (This second paragraph is speculation).

Gone to the nightshift, after a week off. That Andrew Edwards gets through some co-presenters!

[quotenick="leedslily"That Andrew Edwards gets through some co-presenters! How anyone can survive listening to his endless high speed, self obsessed, self congratulalatory prattling is beyond me - and condescendingly "instructing us" on how to put his number in our mobile phones or how to see him on Facebook or when and where to look out for his infernal yellow shorts etc etc....................grrrrrrrrrr!!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
