I used to live next door to a man who murdered a woman who I believe lived in Chapeltown, the same guy attacked a woman wholived on the Avenues down Armley/ Wortley he was said to have cut her Breasts off. I lived in Armley at the time as I do now and remember him as Uncle Gordon.Funny how, when we were little every one was an Uncle or Auntie even though we weren't related.

Careful lads, we might upset Samson's delicate sensibilities with all this talk of violence and nefarious characters. (See Service Crew thread) By the way, Hats Off, thanks for your support on that one.PaulB and ChrisM, thanks for remembering Tony Hardcastle and Marco. I posted on the Phono thread to see if anyone remembered Tony. I knew him well and he was an absolute gentleman. Can't say the same for Marco, tho'. I once remember a fracas in the Phono when a punter cracked JT, the owner, and did a runner, followed by Tony, whoo came back about an hour later and said he had lost the offender at Woodhouse Moor! I bet the poor lad still has nightmares to this day re. being chased by a 6ft7", 18st monster who was fit.Bill Richardson I always thought was a bully. He was a big lad but you had to give it back to him, or else he'd walk all over you.Didn't Andy Sykes have the Trotters when Terry Mitchell's boys had the surprise party? Also, anyone remember Eddie and Dave Holland or Tommy McLain from the 60's and Gary and John Street from the Precinct in the 70's?

Yeah Tony was a top notch gentleman, he'd always stop for a chat if I bumped into him in town, and always had a joke for me. I also got on with Marco tho' he did have a very short fuse. The lasttime I saw Marco was about 13 years ago. I was running a pirate radio station, in Leeds, and Marco paid us a visit with one of our DJ's. He hadn't been out of jail long.
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, but this young man is James Jefferson, not strictly an infamous son of Leeds (he was from North Shields) but his grisly crime was comitted in (what is now) the Leeds area.He murdered Elizabeth Todd on Leeds Road just outside Otley in 1908. He had apparently been incarcerated in Leeds for a previous crime, and when released, went back to the north east. After an argument with his brother-in-law, he returned to Leeds by train. For reasons unknown, he walked to Otley. Before arriving there, he came across the unfortunate Mrs Todd on the road. A passer-by witnessed the attack, and raced to Otley to raise the alarm. When help arrived, it was too late. Jefferson was caught, quite literally, red-handed. He had removed Mrs Todd's head with his brother-in-law's filleting knife. He made no attempt to escape and was taken to the cells in Otley. He pleaded insanity at his trial, giving no reasons for his actions, but was sentenced to death. The sentence was later changed to life imprisonment, and he died in jail. There was a huge turn-out for Mrs Todd's funeral, and local people commemorated her death by carving crosses into the stone wall by the field in which she was killed. I think these can still be seen today, on the left of Leeds Road, travelling toward Leeds, just before Holbeck (no relation) Wood.

Mr Morley the cannibal murderer, and former Mr Gay UK is a natural addition to this thread.A bizarre case even for Leeds!

In fact that's what all the trouble in the Trotters was over if I remember rightly, Doormen and their bosses muscling in on others territories. Yep that sounds about right, I worked for Tony Hardcastle and Marco Then went to work for one night club as the pay was better My Dad used to work on the doors at The Mecca with Tony Hardcastle in the 60s! Then, in the 90s I worked FOR Tony as a security guard when he was running City Centre Security and also when he bought F.E.D. Security from Frank Dickinson. Lasttime i had any contact with T.H. he was connected with Cerberus i think! Couldn't wish for a better boss than Tony but i suppose there was favoritism cos of the connections with my dad!!

I notice from the map of BNP members at the Wikileaks site that Leeds has the highest proportion of anywhere!Don't know whether this counts as infamous or not?
