Why are the Evening Post not allowing readers to post comments on all these recent stories about Leeds's Own Jimmy Savile? It is surely one of the biggest stories to hit the city in recent months. The ITV Exposure feature on Wednesday night was very interesting. However, by the time it was aired the YEP had already been printed so there was no up-to-date reportage in Thursday's papers. Not that those in charge at Whitehall...err...Wellington Street will be imparting that information to their dwindling readership.

They're probably not allowing posts on the subject as it's an emotive topic and subject to very strong feelings on all sides. Looking at some of the past posts by contributors to much less divisive stories suggest it would quickly turn into a nasty and potentially litigious flame war if comments were allowed.

Hi Ravey - I hold no opinion on the matter either way but might I suggest you log into the Scarborough Evening News website and see some of the opinions on there. It will make your hair stand on end.

Those comments are tame compared to the ones on youtube, the earlier comments going back over a year ago when he died are nothing but praise for the man.The noticeable difference in tone (that can't be repeated here) starting just after the exposure program was aired the other nighthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ow4nkTgUUEYou wouldn't have thought they were talking about the same person!

Noticed that Yesterday's Evening Post are not headlining web stories about the late lamented former Bevin Boy as Leeds's Own Jimmy Savile any more. Soon dropped that like a ton of bricks. Ridiculous search term in the first place. Don't think anyone googles Leeds's Own Peter Sutcliffe or Branau-on-Inn's own Adolf Hitler.
