Wonderful shop was Regam Electrics - they seemed to sell anything and everything electrical, even spares for obsolete appliances. I believe they moved to the bottom of Eastgate from Boar Lane.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I believe the owner's name was actually Mager.

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

When I started work in the early sixties, I worked in the stores of an electrical contractor. Regam were one of their suppliers - washing machine parts I think. Other electrical wholesalers, were Sun Electrical (just off Whitehall Road) Arthur F Tobbell, Park Square (I think) and Carling and Wright, and Gratrix.
