Who on earth is doing the drive time travel news now?It sounds like they've dragged a lass out of the post room to do it - clearly very nervous, appalling diction and pronunciation, everything mixed up (before they used to do the motorways, then the travel news by city / town, now it's all just lumped in together, leaping about the county like a freshly landed salmon).Bring back the proper travel new presenters!

Is Martin Kelner back in the good books at Radio Leeds ?It would appear that he is standing in for 'don't call me Andy'for the half term holiday. Can't see him and Spanswick clicking, there will be tearsbefore the end of the week and I don't think it willbe Martin.

Wow! You're right. The last time I looked at his website he said he was no longer in the plans of any BBC North local radio stations.

We should all tune in this week to send the ratings through the roof, and then tune out again next week when Andy is back...

Talk about money for old rope !Just how many people are employed(?) at BBC in Leeds ?Presenters/reporters/freeloaders in abundance. With national coverage of 'national events' whydo we need such as Harry Gration in Wooton Bassett. No disrespect but if each local BBC mob report on everyevent what does it cost and what is achieved over nation covrage. The BBC is in dire need of a modern day 'Beeching Axe'Don't mention the lunches, gifts and TAXI costs !Rein them all in and soon.

You make a very good point there, dogduke. If a story breaks in Leeds, we'll get a reporter from Radio Leeds and another from Look North. If the story is "big" story, there will be another report from another BBC "North of England" correspondent, or maybe one of the big names from that there London will be sent oop north. A truly massive story might even see one of the 'anchors' despatched to speculate on the steps of Leeds Town Hall, whilst the other minions within the BBC network continue to replicate and overlap each others work.So why not just have one person doing all the lot at a fraction of the cost?

A vast improvement this week from 0600 to 0900 - Martin Kelner Monday and Tuesday and Danny Savage (excellent TV guy) this morning. With both of these chaps keeping things modest and level headed Ms Spanswick seems eminently more sensible as well. If only the school half term could continue !!

It was Martin Kelner who gave Mrs Merton her first break on Radio in the early nineties.
