I went today to where the River Aire comes out at the Dark Arches and I noticed there were quite a number of fish (around several inches long) readily visible just under the small arch at the side and the larger arch next to it. I wondered if they were keeping in the slight shadow there to keep out of the direct Sun.     I'll have to take another walk into Leeds along the canal in the next couple of days, I think, as I've missed a few things. The diversion to the ford adds quite a lot to the walk and that and the hot sun meant I walked the last stretch into Leeds on Wellington Street rather than the towpath.

If you go to britainfromabove and select the following set of pictures they show this bridge and the section of river . Zoom in and you can see the crossing gates over the bridge 3 sidings in what someboby remarked was a council yard , a crane various piles of whatever plus some road rollers . Was the premises in front of the yard Jonas Woodhead Springs ? . I don't know how to upload pictures but I think you are allowed to as long as you mention where you got them fromEAW044388-EAW044394 Inclusive .Or search Kirkstall and it brings them up a a group .I think you will enjoy them clarity and detail is excellent .

Hi scrabblerz. Yes the site's photos are excellent. The information on some of them that is brought up when clicking on the information blue flag with a white circle is very useful. In order to zoom into photos you need to sign in or register, which is a bit of a shame. I have not looked at what registering involves but I may do that another time.

Hi Leodian britainfromabove is free to register enables you to zoom in add comments , although one or two seem to go mad there are more blue flags than picture on some , but you can hide them also you can download the pictures to your computer or card and peruse the pictures at your leisure . Have a look at the aeroplane gallery .
