It's really only power craving jobsworths like security and over zealous special constables who try play the 'potential terroism tactic' They try use the power of a hi viz and uniform, and the threat of arrest to play the power, and intimidation game over you. Call there bluff and stand up for your rights, they crumble quicker than a sand castle. They are madly egotistic tho be warned, they would rather make a fool of themselves with outrageous statements than admit they don't know the laws and admit there wrong full stop. It's a sad state of affairs really.
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Isnt it also an offence to film/photograph the Police now too?
There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

People of the future may look at Leodis or the equivalent and ask the question "Why are there no pictures of police officers?" from our time.    Message to people of the future "I'll probably be long gone when you read this - the reason there are no police offices from the early 21st century is that our lawmakers came up with some pretty petty laws"

The area is changing fast these days.I've included scenes from up on the railway viaduct, the Dickensian subways, forgotten ginnels and yards, and i took a look at all the nooks and crannies down in the Hol beck culvert. There's lots of archive shots, plenty of steam for the railway fans, and old maps. The story is in two parts. My walk around Victorian Holbeck can be seen herehttp://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=265602590&blogId=539964126I hope you enjoy (p.s can a S.L mod edit a B into my ''Holeck'' title pls)          Fantastic photos - of one of the cradles of the industrial revolution. Still can't believe the craftmanship of some of those arches. Excellent historical record. I am always astounded by the quality and quantity of Phill_dvsn's collection of photo's and blog, why havent you got your own local history programme on Yorkshire TV?Or books /dvd's.It is an absolute pleasure to read your stuff.Thank you for sharing all this with us. . .and also to the people who go with you on these walks. Please can you tell me Phil. . .how did your interest in local history start?

Near a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground.

One thing that has fascinated me Phill and it concerns the Holbeck river itself. The flows in the river seem low yet the river powered the mills etc. Is there a contradiction there or have I missed out on something?PC

The Hol Beck isn't that strong a beck and for a long way meanders along the flat. I wonder wether it did power the mills??? Jim's excellent water power walks out at Farnley are at Mills possibly older than holbeck where some mills may have ben built as steam/coal powered.Anyway let's see what the experts say????

Then it hits water lane and goes to the Aire (as it does today) with no sign of any mills (foundries yes).So I assume that it didn't power any Mills - "assume" is a good word when someone may just pounce out and prove you wrong.Great work from Phil as always BTW and a big thanks from me to our great moderators on the board.......
