I've had a look at the link originally posted, the site has been updated but cannot find the dates it's going to be screened. (Obviously will br sometime after 1st March.....)     Don't know about you but I get tired of these guessing games - I wonder how many people will have given up by the time it comes round? Things loose their initial magic quite quickly if nothing interesting happens to keep them alive. C4 only confirms its schedules two weeks in advance to allow for current affairs programming, or as is more likely these days, to allow another variant on Big Brother to hit the screens. They'll have had it planned for the beginning of March for ages. With a bit of luck they will get repeated without ads on film4 soon too.

'With a bit of luck they will get repeated without ads on film4 soon too.'Remember the days when torrents of complaints were hurled at the Beeb and others if they dared to repeat a programme twice in a year?Far cry from what we have now, seeing the same thing on a dozen different channels, shown again an hour later, and twice more later in the week, not to mention the weekend omnibus just in case you're still not quite brain-dead! How many time do you need to see the generic template of the 'reality' shows to draw your conclusions about them?Wouldn't be so bad if they did this with a few more of the stimulating programmes; catering for the populous at large I suppose (oops, generalising again, bet that dould upset someone ) I bet we don't see Inside Out again.

As Channel 4 is partially financed by government money, we the taxpayers have actually paid a bit to make these films and so should have the right to see them without having to sit through ads, and indeed not at the cinema, so they should appear on Film4 in time. The Betjeman film wasn't made by the BBC, so they don't actually have permission to broadcast it, which means that it can't go out on iPlayer and so can only be 'presented for review' as an on demand item - this is a bit of a workaround that it has for things like this. It will probably end up at the BFI if it isn't all ready and if there was demand for it and if they could the rights issues sorted out it might become available as a DVD or as a download when the BFI gets it on demand system on line. Before Christmas I came across a film archive project for the Midlands called MACE, which is based at the University of Leicester. There really should be something like that for Yorkshire, which would incorporate films like the Betjeman perfectly.

How does the Yorkshire Film Archive fit into this simon, is it similar? Strikes me that could be a good home for it.Thinking of old film, I have 400' of 8mm film made back in '64 which is older than the Leeds film, just wondering what state that could be in, I did have it copies onto video tape ( :0 ) some time ago. must dig it out and see if antyhing is worth trying to get any of it on here. Certainly has small bits of Foxwood, Crossgates and the Central Station on it that I remember.

Thanks for the pointer though, it looks great.

What do you mean chameleon? Sorry! Being a bit thick tonight! No you're not - perhaps just didn't see the earlier post from slw saying he didn't think there would be anyone here on a Saturday night. I was saying that Saturday night out in Leeds isn't everyone's cup of tea these days. (The bit about Adnams gitter was for wiggy, he probably hates that even more!). OI! ah can 'ear thee tha knows..go on..bugger off down yer own end..ah know yer fatha lad!

The Radio Times which is on sale today features Red Riding. On its front page it quotes John Stalker "It's the most shocking portrayal of a named force I've ever seen". Inside it suggests that the Yorkshire Tourist Board won't be using it in a promotional campaign any time soon!
