I remember the blackout's in the 70's and we never turned 'feral' or started looting. Maybe after 3 or 4 days though things might be different.

I'm a bit fed up of Leeds on screen being shown as a rough low life city. CH4 are very good at this. I recently watched Burgled set around Leeds and Educating Yorkshire (not Leeds). So many beautiful areas in Leeds that could be shown but as per all we're shown is the grittiness. Who in their right mind would want to visit/move to Leeds with all this negativity ........makes me angry!!

I'm pretty sure that they filmed in the Olympic on New Market Street for this. Yes Blakey im pretty sure it will have been, as for the other areas they have used im not too sure apparently they used keighley and worth valley railway, but thats not a suprise considering how often it has been used for filming in the past.

Thanks to my mum for tipping me off about this:David Dimbleby is currently presenting an afternoon documentary on BBC2 called "How we built Britain". Episode 5 covers the North of England and features Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds. For those of you who have neither the time nor the inclination to learn about the Geordies or the Mancs, the Leeds section starts at roughly 27:50. The programme runs for 60 minutes in total. The programme is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
The older I get, the better I was.

I agree, though it was pretty cool to see the area I grew up in on TV, even if they were portraying the whole place as a dive. Seeing them go up and down Hall Lane in Armley was just plain weird, lol.
Young 'uns that have no interest in the history of the place they grew up in....disgraceful.

Just watched 'Peaky Blinders' on catchup and I struggled to spot any Leeds locations. The nearest I got to Leeds was the scene where "Winston Churchill" was on the train at Keighley Station on the KWVR, complete with lots of steam to obscure the background....Good show though.

Anyone seen 'Drifters' on E4?E4 describe it as "Comedy series about three best friends living in Leeds who, having finished uni, are struggling to find a job that doesn't suck, a place to live that is half decent and a boyfriend they actually like"It's quite funny, if a bit crude, but I'm struggling to spot many Leeds locations in it. There are a couple of oft-used segways particularly driving round City Square / past the Queen Hotel, but that aside I've only recognised a handful of places (they were in the Skybar in last weeks episode). In fact I'd go so far as to say that I'm fairly sure some of the locations aren't in Leeds! It's also features those well known Leodisians Bob Mortimer and Arabella Weir as the main characters parents. If you've missed it, it is available on 4oD / on the Channel 4 website.http://www.channel4.com/programmes/drifters
