Things must of changed then when i was there then. Also my 13 year old step daughter as just read your comments & included primrose in the list of schools we did. Oops does that make me a yoghurt knitting parent?

We must have been on different planets then, that's not the way I remember it, either that or you have a different definition of "we did them"Agnes Stewart was never a "posh school", it had some kids from decent backgrounds, but I would never have sent my kids there. All I can say is that if you though of Aggie's as posh, I would hate to think what Cross Green was like!It sucked!

Leeds City Boys High could take Leeds Girls easy in the 60s, think this thread should be on Leedssc web site!!

Parkside V Mathew muck now they were battles razors, bike chains, broken bottles the lot. I seem to remember a few six formers from both schools doing time for one fight. Clapgate Middle V Belle Isle, John Blenky Belle Isle on the Moor at the side of the M1 goading the Clapgate lads and the Teachers locked the school. I remember the teachers strikes in the mid 80's caused hundreds of kids to walk the city centre and some big battles were fought then. Mind you these days its race riots in schools the big new one they have built near south Leeds stadium regularly has full blown riot cops separating the kids I work on the trading est and its regular lunch time entertainment.

I was at Belle Isle Middle 79-83 and Matthew Muck 83-87. I remember an organised meeting between some of the BIM lads and the Clapgate lot around '81, that was quite nasty as I recall. The Matthew Muck/Cockburn scraps used to be a sight to see as well.

,Thanks Festwerter + LeeRatBag. . .for a moment i thought Matthew Murray wasnt gunna get a mention. I went there in '82-'86. I remember some kids hiding-out in the Graveyard at the top of the Quarry. . . If you were from 'Miggy' you didnt go near Holbeck, Beeston+ vice-versa. So why they thought intergrating the 2 areas would work to make 1 school, South Leeds High., Post

, I've met the Head of SLHS(i work at a couple of schools in S.leeds) he said if the fighting gets bad the school sends parents a text to inform them if its just fighting or whether its a riot. Its ment to stop parents from worrying or ending up with exaggerated stories from their kids. (Kids dont need to tell stories these days, they have the video on their mobiles) lol , Post
