[quotenick="Loiner1960"]Howdy partner! Thank you for the history of the term sheriff. The "new" system has a directly elected Commissioner, remember them in their uniform at the cinema entrance, who will report annually to..... Police and crime anels, who are locally authority councillors!I realise you are being somewhat "tongue-in-cheek", but nonetheless there is a difference in meaning between "commissioner" and "commissionaire". However, your comment brings to mind the most brilliant episode of "The Detectives", starring Jasper Carrott and Robert Powell, when one character turned up to an historical re-creation event dressed up as a doorman, in cinema commissionaire uniform, rather than as a Norman.

That took me back to History lessons at skool wondering who exactly the much feared "Norman Bowman" was.And was "Hastings 1066" a reverse-charge call?

No cos he stole from the poor and gave to the rich and he was fromNottingham, not Yorkshire. Just call me Robin!!>> 2. If you agree, can you ride a horse?A. Big political u-turn!! I like riding!! Call me Sheriff.>> 3. Will there be a place in town, where we can meet you on a daily basis?A. If you are buying!!>> 4. For £100,000 is there a badge of office?A. Yes, but the cost comes from the overinflated allowances that thesePoliticans seem to like claiming.

Had a letter today from Godfrey Bloom. He's standing as police candidate for my part of Yorkshire. In his letter he goes into gushing detail about what a wonderful job he's going to do given the opportunity. He also invites me to display his publicity poster in my window. There is no mention of a fee and so I assume that he expects me to do this for free. As far as I'm aware we've never met, spoken nor corresponded with one another. Why then does he feel that it's appropriate to be so familiar and also to call me and my wife by our Christian names? No doubt I'll get a Christmas card from him too! The letter is in the bin.

Does wonders for the general perception of UKIP MEPs and members in general.

seems very unfortunate, it doesn't matter who you vote for, one of them will get in

Hey lads and lasses,I am the new Sheriff in town (hopefully if we keep the Politicians out) and I'll see you in the saloon when I win.I'm the ex-cop and I am from Leeds, Headingley, Lawnswood School. Also policed Chap, Millgarth, Killingbeck.I am independent (no political backing for me) but yes I can make a difference because I know what is right and wrong with the cops at the moment.Read my website www.pcccedchristie.co.ukAlso twitter and Facebook. Some interesting stories at the bottom and no integrity issues with me at all, assured. If there were I wouldn't be putting my name in.I'm your best chance as all the others have served on the Police Auth and it was ineffective. Labour man was the Chair.I know the culture, what needs cleaning up and how to do it. I'm not afraid to challenge the bent if needed.First job find a new Chief.Anyway get in touch and ask away. If you like what you hear / read then vote for the INDEPENDENT guy and tell your mates as well.CheersCed Christie
