I believe the MultiYork premises is being taken on by the Up & Running shop. It means the store on Lands Lane will close down but it is a bigger premises, and its good to see someone moving in there, and they should be able to survive as a relatively specialist retailer in this slightly fringe area.I've also thought its a shame that little area has always seemed a little down - but maybe the Primark opening over the road, and the pepping up of the Squares/Cafe Nero building might get things going.I guess in some ways its similar to that cluster of buildings on Duncan St/Call Lane and most of Kirkgate - in that they really deserve to be back in productive use

Doesn't one of the budget hotels (Travelodge?) overlook the station from Swinegate - I seem to remember that you can see right into some of the rooms from the passing trains....hmmmm, that sounds wrong, but you know what I mean!

Hopes that Primark may take an area more upmarket. Is that a first? Haha yeah that didn't come out quite right did it - anyway shopfitters for Up and Running are in at the old Multiyork shop for Dec 3rd opening.

Regarding the Bar Censsa at the Griffin Hotel there is a report on page 27 of today's YEP (April 11 2014) about a proposed redevelopment of what was the Bar Censsa into a "classy Victorian-style pub". Passing by yesterday (August 11 2014) what had been Bar Censsa on Boar Lane I noticed that work seemed well on the way inside in its conversion to the themed pub. Seeing some workmen having a break outside I had a nice chat with them. They said that the work is not going on at the upper floors of what was the Griffin Hotel. I also mentioned the claims/urban legend that there is a tunnel going underneath at least what was Bar Censsa that leads to the Queens Hotel. They had not heard of this but would look out for one (they may of course have just been polite to me! ).

I'm pretty sure that someone mentioned the upper floors of the Griffin are now part of the Comfort Hotel that is accessed from Bishopgate Street. That's why the lights are on sometimes in the upper floors that you can see from Boar Lane.
