And I think I have the other one now.Breaking it down, I thought 'Black, for example' might indicate a word that goes with 'black'. Initially, I thought of Rod, for Black Rod, but I couldn't make the rest fit. Then I looked at 'English', which in cryptic crosswords is depicted just as a letter 'e'. That leaves 'and French'. You can use either 'et' or 'y' for and in French. So I was looking for something that goes with black ending in 'ey' with six letter. Rodley almost fitted but the letter l was unaccounted for. But I think I have it now.Pudsey. Black puddings. Black puds. Plus the 'e' for English, and the y meaning 'and' in French.I thengyou.

Geordie-exile, I take my hat off to you!Mrs H and I had considered tray, but hadn't got the rest of it. I wouldn't care, but we've recently had to do some hospital visiting at St James', and I'd seen all the signs for the Thackray Museum.I think that closes the book, so to speak. A big thanks to all contributors - you're a great bunch. I'll report back on the results as soon as I hear.UH & Mrs

I think Seamer's the one we'll go with; Y in French means 'there', I think it's 'and' in Spanish. But Pudsey is a good shot.I'll eat the necessary humble pie if the answer turns out to be Prince or Pudsey.

Entry has gone in.I understand that all 100% correct entries go into a draw. and the winners notified individually, so while I'm pretty confident about having got 100% - thanks to SL contributors' help with the crucial last two clues - I may not have succeeded in the draw, if there's been one.I'll give it another week or so.Naturally, you guys will be first to know after me. In the meantime, I guess no news is bad news.

WE WON!!!!!!!!!!Thanks, everyone!Apparently ours was one of seven all-correct answers received. There were only six prizes, so a draw was held to determine the results. The Hoo entry came sixth, so we just scraped in! The prize is two bottles of wine - I'm TT so I might have to watch Mrs H - but be sure that glasses will be raised to all SL contributors who took part. The correct answers were: Seamer & Thackray Museum, so many congrats to Brandy and Geordie-exile for exercising their grey matter and helping us out, but not forgetting the other good suggestions that were made by others. That's enabled the Hoo reputation to be maintained as winners for two years running, so no pressure for next year, eh? Watch this space.
