I think that the thousands who turned out for the funeral testify the validity of the RIP title. We are now twittering on with >>Hindsight<<.In any event it is not for "some randoms" (as the kids would say) tapping at a keyboard, like me, to decide who does and does not Rest In Peace.Even if we did think someone oughtn't to RIP, would you have us dig them up? A gibbet in Roundhay Park perhaps.psLeo's posts looked fine to me[EDIT - Unless, I suppose, the backers and facilitators of SL are now getting a bit pc about having this 'title' on their patch? ] I dont know who is suggesting he should be dug up,let alone hung from a gibbet.RIP is a term, given to someone who has died and will be missed.Im afraid Mr Savile, with hindsight or not, doesnt really merit such a thought anymore.Given the overwhelming evidence now coming to light it is clear that he has not only abused girls, boys and now other unthinkable victims, but he has also abused his position and the publics trust and to an extent with some, love.Im afraid that the point about the thousands who turned up testifying the validity of RIP no longer has any merit. They were duped,as we all were, and im sure that if you were to ask those same people if they would have turned up for his funeral knowing what they do now then i would guess that the vast majority would not have done so in the first place.I tried to take some moral high ground myself when this all came out, trying not to be too judgemental, suspecting it could all be some headline grabbing, money making scam and that its strange why it didnt come out when he was alive etc etc.But clearly the evidence seen would suggest i was wrong to try and be impartial and keep some lofty position and try to look down on those sullying his memory without him being here to defend himself.

I havent really said anything about JS and especially since the bad news came out. I was really sad when I heard he had died and had no idea of what we would be facing a year later.I blame the people in the know about the quandary we are all in now.Nobody would have put such praise as in the beginning of the postsif they had known what filth was going to come out.We all have been duped and what a liar in some ways he was andyet it was in the open to people who knew it all. He even wroteabout it in his book but nobody not in the know believed him.We liked him because he was a Leeds lad done well. Now we are feeling as though he kicked us in the teeth for ourbelief.I just thank goodness I wasnt one of the young girls he fancied as I was like most of the young girls in the 50's and 60's vulnerableto anyone like him. My Mother never told me about sex but toldme not to let anyone touch me so maybe I might have run awayafter all.Bless the ones who didnt.

Not long afore his death me and a mate took our wives out for food at Korks in Otley (after a snifter at Junction).Jimmy S was in Korks, with a lady friend (yes she was over 40) and after his meal he worked the room, ever the showman, chatting to folks including us.He kissed the hand of Mrs J and Mrs C (wife of mate), and complemented us on our superb choice of women.Wives are now threatening to sue us for allowing this.We have come up with a suitable response.

I didn't post a comment when this thread was started becauseI just could not stand the sight of him on TV/Radio etc.All his supposed good deeds were always done with maximum publicity to feed his gigantic ego.I had to go to his flat in 2000 on business but he was not at home, his house keeper offered to show me round(why) the only thng of any note was a load of framed photographs of him with famous people. The victims must be relieved that they can finally reveal their suffering and that the truth can be told.JS has avoided prosecution when alive, let us hope that all hisevilcoharts appear in the dock.I sense that some very well known people will be unmasked.

Actually I'm not surprised he wasn't sure which Prime Minister he means, there is more than one!!! The links to the particular Prime Minister Tom Watson refers to is of course Saviles big buddy.
