Thursday 29/4 edition.The yep reporters' do tend to use what is to my mindinappropriate phrases on what are serious matters..Report last night on the inquest of 2 soldiers killed by a roadside bomb.Naming the 2 soldiers and where they are from the reort continuesstating that they were 'launched ' from their Jackal armoured vehicle when it drove over the explosive device.Thrown from - ejected yes - but LAUNCHED to me seems derogatory.

Is tonights YEP the worst one yet?It's the thinnest I can ever remember the paper being, and there is no letters page!And they charge 42p for this?

I'm starting to think that the YEP is in severe danger of becoming an irrelevance in this modern age and could well go the way of the tram, the steam train and gas lighting if it isn't careful.The whole point of t'YEP was that it was an evening paper. You got the ordinary paper on your way to work in the morning and the YEP on the way home (if you didn't have it delivered). OK the 'county' edition could be bought in some places at lunchtime, but you know what I mean.Now the YEP is in some shops at 6.30am, having being printed overnight in the depths of South Yorkshire. There are no further editions printed during the day, reflecting the days news - on a busy news day in years gone by it could be 4pm before the Leeds final hit the streets, with the content reflecting the days developments and on days with a massive story there was even occasionally a later edition.To be fair, it may mean that in these days of the internet, rolling news channels and the like that the need to read about the news in a newspaper has become diminished, but I can't help but feel that by abandoning its core values that the YEP's owners are in danger of killing the paper off all together.The rot set in when the paper became a tabloid and the subsequent sales of the business to firstly the Guardian Media Group and then on to the Johnstones Press have also robbed the paper of a great deal of its local identity, with reports sometimes suggesting that those typing the copy don't know the area, beyond looking at Google maps.
