Typical of this very slack paper Si - they seem to have no shame at all and their main "raison d'etre" seems to be to perpetually advise us of how wonderful they are.Incidentally, my friend is a conductor on the ECML and brought Joe Longthorne up from London yesterday teatime.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Another shameful piece in tonights YEP, which is little more than spin from Leeds NHS Trust (or whatever it is called this week), seeking to justify closing and / or selling off huge chunks of their property estate.Lots of sweeping comments, repeatedly stating how old buildings are in an attempt to make them sound old and useless, comments like "operating theatres in the LGI that opened in 1915" as if they are still in their original condition and have never had any upgrades or refurbishment.Whatever happened to balanced reporting, rather than recycling what is clear a carefully scripted press release?Any problems with hospital buildings is more likely down to continuing mis-management and the current fascination in building new everything rather than maintaining or refurbishing perfectly serviceable existing properties.

Ooh ravey, that's almost exactly what I said last night on reading the front of the YEP in the shop! I've worked for LTHT for many years (and ULTH before that) and that article was a right load of rubbish. I liked the shock! statistic that only 40% of the premises are used for patient care - yes, that's because all the other people/things that enable the hospital to run have to be housed somewhere! What a load of edited for content.Something positive about local journalism though, I think Look North is generally a pretty high standard. Some of their reports are miles better than the ones on national BBC.

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.
