book wrote: Good points phill but that compensation is likely to be paid in out of court settlements and most definitely linked to gagging clauses. There has been enough publicity already to ruin any past reputation, good or bad. It's a very emotive subject and I hope anyone who suffered any abuse finds some form of justice. The whole thing is just pretty sad, I still find it hard to believe really. The latest is Commander Peter Spindler, who leads the MPS Specialist Crime Investigations branch, said "Having now had the opportunity to review progress one week on I have revised my estimate of the number of likely victims to be about 60.http://news.sky.com/story/997385/jimmy- ... .......Not to mention Irvine Welsh’s 1996 book Ecstasy, a book of three stories. The story Lorraine Goes to Livingston,” features a character called Freddy Royle a well known TV presenter and pedophile.Freddy Royle has a television show that featured a young boy, whom Fred had sorted out to swim with dolphins at Morecambe’s Marineland, while his grandparents were brought back to the scene of their honeymoon. And in his spare time he volunteered in a hospital, and has a fascination with the morgue.Chapter from the book...*Yes, the trustees knew all about Freddy Royle. They knew the real secrets of the chat-show host, the authors of several books, including Howzat! – Freddy Royle On Cricket, Freddy Royle’s and Freddy Royle’s 101 Magic Party Tricks.Yes, those trustees knew what this distinguished friend, this favorite caring, laconic uncle to the nation did with the stiffs they got in here. The thing was, Freddy brought millions of pounds into the place with his fund-raising activities. This brought kudos to the trustees, and made St Hubbin’s Hospital a flagship for the arm’s-length trusts from the NHS. All they had to do was keep schtumm and indulge Sir Freddy with the odd body*            *More herehttp://tinyurl.com/8ssfw9t

It's all so hard to believe. But it must be true. I've been away but watched stuff on Sky News yesterday and after the year Murdoch's had they're having a field day at the Beeb's expense. You just have to wonder what kind of internal culture allowed things like this to happen and no one have the guts to do anything about it."All evil needs to triumph is for good men to remain silent"Very true.

Having had my stomach turned sufficiently by the unceasing reports of the behaviour of the individual named at the head of this thread, can we now consign him to the "Leeds Villains" thread, and leave all future discussion of his abhorrent activities to the numerous prurient media outlets? I would prefer that in the future we regard the topic as beneath this forum.

Im not suggesting anything else but whether or not there should be any thread which has RIP in it to Jimmy Savile.
