Of those potholes on Kirkstall Road, I could swear I could see pit props in the bottom of one.
I like work. I can watch it for hours.

The polished packed ice is certainly more of a hazard on the footpaths now than anything for the last 10+ days. I've hit the deck twice this evening on the ice but before tonight have only come close to going over only once with the snow. Looks like the thaw has been delayed a bit but should clear most of the ice over the weekend before the cold returns Sunday night

With all the snow still piled high at the side of the roads and pavements like glass with packed down ice and not a bit of grit in sight you could think it was due to cut backs. Then a man from the council appears in a tractor.......... to cut a hedge which was only done in October! unbelievable!

The Extra Salt that the council got in (3000 tons) ready for the harsh winter we are likely to get in January/February (which incidentally are our worst months for Ice/Snow has been used already. It is a racing cert that LCC will struggle as will every other council because of this November Snow. The first thing that will/has stopped is the refilling of grit bins. There is a grit bin at the top of Bell Lane in Bramley. The Garage opposite has been clear of snow and ice since the first snow fell. The Grit bin is empty, none went on the road. Then people wonder who is using it?

Was in Grimsby the other day. Main roads - clear, if one narrow lane is 'clear', side roads - hope your wheels fit into the existing 4" deep furrows in the ice, footpaths - they are there I'm told - somewhere.Rather makes you glad of what we get here.
