A lot of rock bands played there in the 80's, Saxon, Motorhead (part of their gig can be heard on 'No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith'), Ozzy Osbourne, Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard ... ... ... I'm pretty sure it was a music venue until it closed. Last time I was there was December '87 (for the "Christmas On Speed" thrash metal festival with Megadeth, Overkill, Nuclear Assault and several other unfriendly-sounding acts . Megadeth filmed the video for their version of "Anarchy In The UK" at that, and I ended up in the vid...).

I still have a Beer Glass from The Great British Beer Festival of 1989 held at the Queens Hall I think there may have beenone in 1990 as well there. It's closure gave the Southerners who never venture past Watford the excuse to bring the Great British Beer Festival back to London where it remains to this day sadly.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

I never went to any concerts there, but did go to a skating thing once - the inline version of roller skates... only once, mind!

I also saw The Clash there with Siouxsie and the Banshees, I went to a couple of John Keenans Futuramas too. I'm quite sure the Beatles played an early gig there too around 1963.Aahhh The fond memories. I was there for the roxy concert, had a chat with Bill Nelson ( be-bop deluxe ) , and he wasn't happy at been told he could only play one song ( this was about 5am ), but they managed to stretch 'no trains to heaven' out for about 15 minutes . . . anyone used to go see be-bop deluxe at the fairway in gipton? wiggy??

In the 1960s, I went to a performance in the Queen's Hall called "Dancing Waters" - it was a large curtain of coloured water fountains which created different patterns of movement set to music. Sounds a bit weird, but it was a lovely effect. Innocent times, eh?!I also remember the hall being host to monthly flea markets in the 70s/80s - run by Anthony Porter, I think. I was a beermat collector in those days, and I got a lot of bargains there!

There's a previous thread about the Queen's Hall.http://www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messag ... D=668Aside from the music, I remember going to a circus there in the early 60s.
