Cheers buffaloskinner for the information about the very high annual rental charges for those premises in Queens Arcade. It is no wonder businesses suffer and that some do not last long. I notice that the charge does not particularly seem to be based on the square footage as one for example at 596 sq. ft is £2,500 less than that with only 241 sq. ft.

In regard to the arcade's name, on passing through today (May 3 2017) I noticed a blue plaque at the Briggate entrance that I had not spotted before (I must improve my poor observing of things
). The version of the name on the blue plaque and that used as the name above it only add to my confusion over the use or non-use of an apostrophe. Based on information earlier in this thread the version on the blue plaque is however the correct one, which is what I also agree with.

I would certainly trust Pevsner and the Civic Society over some builder who doesn't even apparently read, or an estate agent .
