Ha ha, well that pretty much confirms it then. It was probably the same scrap, but talked up over a few years to rival LA gang warfare!! Down near the ressie eh, trouble is, it's a long walk back uphill on Butt and Henconnor Lanes for both parties after a scrap! You know what two merged schools will be like - one old school on one side of the yard, the other on the other. Until about 6 months in when most people will have forgotten

The new school is to be built on the site of the old West Leeds Girls school at Congress mount. It is to be finished at mid 2009 when the two schools will finally come together and start from there. No name is yet sorted but, as far as I know, the kids are going to think of new names and the final vote will include pupils, teachers and parents of both places! Once the new school is built and occupied then the otehr two are coming down

At least it's a new school - therefore it wasn't anybodies before, which should help curtail any antics that might have gone on.Wonder what the new school will be called - not sure i've leave it up to the kids! Something inclusive no doubt.

We tried very hard to get Sam into Farnley High, due to his dyslexia and that school having the best facilities fior him, but the BLOODY COUNCIL () turned us down, hence him going to Wortley!

Simon. Surely you heard that Wortley and west Leeds were fighting last week, with a few dozen Wortley lads going over to West Leeds at lunchtime on Monday. I think this continued on Tuesday further up the road near to West Leeds old boys school. There is also talk at the moment of the West Leeds new school taking only year 9-13 and Wortley taking years 7 and 8 in 2009. They will then be merged slowly over the next years as pupil numbers drop. At that point, Wortley will be pulled down

I have heard from my lad that a few kids have been getting a bit testy with each other, but I think thats down to bravado more than owt else. Yes they are phasing i nthe admin of the kids to the new school, but by 2009 all kids from both schools will be in there! So the head teacher at Wortley high claims anyhow!

Brigshaw (Kippax) and Garforth "Comp" (in my school days were rivals.) Quite a few years back the annual Garforth Comp sponsored walk had to be re-routed as it went past Brigshaw and it had resulted in a few "clashes" between kids from the two schools.
