hi all
the latest rumour doing the rounds is wetherspoons are to open in garforth,so had a ride up yesterday 24/3 there is a disused old liberal club in the main street,got talking to a bloke who lives opposite and to quote him w/spoons have bought it subject to planning permission etc.

I personally don't think this is true snowman, Wetherspoons don't tend to go for this type of property, I could be proved wrong though. It also reminds me of the other saying about Wetherspoons " that they only buy beer that is going out of date" A urban myth ????

what is the type of property they go for? they have just opened in morley main st in what used to be a block-busters old unit.re short date beer the would need a hell of a lot of it for 950 pubs.

Just phoned a pal of mine who lives in Garforth and he said that it seems to be common knowledge that a Church society were poised to have it but Wetherspoons have gone in with a much better offer and secured the property.

Hi Snowman - did you not see the BBC link on Wednesday? Crossgates library to sold off and become a Wetherspoons,

Fortunately it was an April Fools gag!

Got to hold my hand up for that one, I put together a page to resemble the BBC news website with the story.

It got over 3500 views, so I suspect there are still people about who fell for it.
