Given the position. On two sides for most of the way up you will see the southern bookend and millgarth. Unless/Until they are demollished.Given the slope it will be similar with the buildings on vicar lane. Still you'll get a good view of the open air market, the multi storey car park and mecca bingo!

By my reckoning the big wheel will be 57 ft taller than the Parish church which is built nearby, and on the same level. And it's not a bad view from up there.

When I saw the thread title I wondered if it was a new scheme that has been thought up by Leeds for transporting folk on specially built Guided Big Wheel Lanes where the proposed Trolly Bus will not run (which is almost everywhere).

But it is Leo.It will also be utilised as the mooring station for the Leeds hot air balloon service to Manchester. Ravey mentioned it the other day when we fail to get the HS2 rail link to Leeds. The balloon will be called the Leodis Zappalon Another crackpot transport idea brought to you by Leeds City Council. Transforming travel back to the dark ages since 1974

That made me PhillMind you I thought Zappalon was an antiseptic ointment, but I may be thinking of some other name!

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

As York doesn't want its wheel any more - it was supposed to be dismantled at the end of last month but wasn't, I assume the Leeds wheel was going to be it, rolled along the A64 with a big stick.

Bit about the wheel herehttp://leeds-list.com/preview-observation-wheel-leeds/I still can't find out if it's permanent or not anywhere.

Well it's another plus for Leeds visitors, but having visited the London eye, I couldn't help but look down on the ant colony that I was part of 20 minutes earlier and paid £6 for this 'lofty' view. I say that smilingly, not smugly.
