I have read that book Cardi. . .he was one of the ones that hated it.I think he was right when he said that what you never had you never missed and the homesickness was bad if thats the kind of kid you were.Theres no place like home when you are little. He wanted to be over the bay at the fairground instead of stuck at Silverdale with a goat lol

That was a lovely bit of senitmentality, I only wish my stay in the late 80's had been quite as nice! As there is another thread dedicated to this subject on here, I wont repeat the memories I have from Silverdale, only to say that the staff were obviously much nicer than the ones we had. Good old 'Matron' and her force feeding of the liver, rhubarb etc to us all!!!I understand the EasyJet comment, given the most exotic holiday I ever had as a kid was to Primrose Valley in a caravan!!

I went to Silverdale but unfortunately I don't recall anything now other than I did go there. It would have been in the early 1950's. If I ever live to be a 100 and someone comes to ask me what I remember of things in the old days I am going to be useless!

Most peoplewith memory probs can't remember what they did2minutes ago but can easily recall 50 odd years in the past.I think you are safe for the time being !
