That is a great view and one I keep meaning to capture, but either the weather is against me or I don't have the camera with me...Beeston Hill is the traditional viewpoint for the city from the South, but I've had some decent images from the East from the walkway around the back of the Tesco Extra at Seacroft or up on Ramshead Drive - http://snipurl.com/23wd17u . The only point to bear in mind from either of these vantage points is that the natural topography masks some of the city centre

The view from the old Rothwell pit site is a good one

One I've not been up:- there's a little office block on Bramley Shopping Centre, rear of which has fire escape.Visible from Outgang Ln, this would give fine views down the valley to Leeds, up the valley to Horsforth and across. http://goo.gl/maps/7Xn8

It's also interesting how the wind seems to lessen from left to right as the steam/smoke plume is very wind affected at Drax, less so at Eggbprough and hardly at all at Ferrybridge.

I managed to get this photo from the track to the Aire & Calder navigation at Rothwell Country Park:Full size on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mhoulden/7178093531/ where if you look closely you can see Tinshill radio mastOn the other side of the track I saw this sign. Looks like Rothwell country park attracts a tough crowd:
