You are in luck! I am currently working on a small project using Google maps to highlight free parking areas close to Leeds City Centre with appropriate notations. I will post a new thread with a link when I have nearly completed it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if it's a once in 28 years event to go shopping, couldn't you just stump up the ten quid or whatever for the car park? Save you a lot of messing about at stations etc.

Get Leeds in a busy/rushour period and be ready for shell-shock!It'll make the Norwich road on Friday Teatime look like a nature trail

Some (ex-Leeds)mates visited from Midlands last weekend. They couldn't get over the traffic here "busy & fast" was the verdict. They too are country bumpkins now (no off meant) Don't drive in.psThere are no parking places on't Norfolk Broads. If you don't weigh anchor by 2pm you're stuffed.Did think of heading out past Gt Yarmouth, doing a left, hugging the coast and docking in Whitby - Mrs J forbade it.

I was born and bred in Leeds and have driven in the centre, but I avoided driving in it as much as possible. I do think that Leeds is now a nice city for pedestrians and I'm told it's good for shoppers, but I know it is still hell for drivers. If you take the train you also get to see how the station has changed, and it has, since you were in Leeds last.

Its a Qpark and is OK.3) If you get there early enough Queen Street is goodThere are a few others but these are sufficiently out of the way not to have too much of a problem getting to with a map.

All I can say is don't bother with the car park in the Light on park row. I was a witness at court and got a last minute call to go in so I ended up parking there is a panic to get to court on time. Ended up costing me a small fortune and I scraped all the side of my car on these silly metal frames that go around the concrete posts in there which you can't see in your mirrors! There is lots of parking on the outskirts of Leeds am sure you will find something. Alternatively I will give you my address in Armley and you can park outside my house and get the number 16 bus in

When I worked in Leeds (up to 3 years ago) I always found the Woodhouse Lane Multi Storey reasonable to use. It's just off the inner ring road, (Skipton/University exit) so it's easy to get in and out of, and when you come out you can head West back to the M621 the on to Carlton Via Rothwell. There were always spaces on the higher levels, whatever the time of day, and although it's not cheap, I doubt that it will cost more than £10 for the day. It's close enough to the city centre to walk, but just far enough out not to be a complete pain to drive to.

Hi Bruno.I may be wrong but it looks like that carpark is almost demolished when I have passed quickly by the area recently. Perhaps someone can confirm this is the case or not. Thanks.

Thanks. They are currently redeveloping the Woodhouse Lane carpark so it is up to scratch to be used as one of the official car parks for the arena.
