The city square bus stop is still closed although the footpath is being narrowed slightly too. I also note that there is now to be a bus stop installed on South Parade as a starting point for at least the 443/444? services as the Trinity development is effecting another of their stops.

I've heard that the bus stops at the bottom of British Home stores on Boar Lane are all being moved to city square and the space in front of Greggs, BHS, Pasty shop et al. are being extended forwards making bigger retail units. Dont know how true but it came from someone who works at Metro.

More on this and its perhaps going off topic. The Bond Street Centre/Boar Lane Interchange has been closed, only a couple of years after its second recent major refurbishment, allegedly due to the Trinity Development. This has led to a large number of buses including the Purple slug 4 route having their stops changed in the entire Infirmary Street/Park Row/South Parade/City Square/Boar lane area. Details can be found at http://www.wymetro.com/travelnews/trinity-stops.htm . Don't miss your bus because Metro missed telling you the stop had changed.

Just leaving aside for a moment the pros and cons of the closure of the facility, and the possible inadequacy of the new arrangements, I must say that I've always found it to be a dismal and filthy area, so perhaps it will now be opened up and made a bit brighter.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I agree with what has been said regarding the dingy hole that was the bus stops at Boar Lane. The only plus point being that at least you were out of the rain / snow while you were waiting. However, I'm more concerned about the obvious wedge of public cash that was thrown at a refurb by Metro when the redevelopment of the shopping centre was obviously in the planning stages.I also can't work out why Metro felt the need to erect a shiny new (if totally inadequately sized) bus stop where the 40/40A will now be stopping when the previous 4/16 passengers didn't warrant one - presumably because there is a more than adequate overhang from the hotel building to shelter under if the weather was inclement?I know that Metro don't run the buses, but the money they waste on other stuff which we could manage quite easily without would have paid for the Supertram twice over.....

BIG N wrote: I'm a little confused by those two links - the text refers to Primark taking 90,000 Sq Ft of space in the Trinity project but the picture shows what is currently BHS, are the current shops etc classed as being part of the new Trinty development then ?? Yes - it's going to be one big site, taking in the existing (but remodelled) Bond Street (aka Leeds Shopping Plaza) with the former Trinity Arcades, so will fill the space from that corner right down to Briggate. Primark appears to be going above the current BHS entrance on Boar Lane, with the centre pushing out over what were the former bus stops.I'm glad to see the development taking shape, but I'll be interested to see how they fill the space. There are some big names signed up for big prestige spaces (no doubt on very attractive terms to get them in), but if you look around we've already got an excess of shop space available in the city centre. The Bond Street was pretty empty before the redevelopment started and The Core (formerly Schofields) is like a ghost town inside. But that is another topic!
