North Street - Sheepscar - Pictures

Thats right chameleon, to the left hand side of the pic is to Sheepscar and as you say Roundhay and Chapel A beyond. Just intreages me as to the fact that the area changed so much in the late 70's and there is very little photographic documentation of the area whereas other parts of Leeds are very well documented as they were re-developed.

Here's a long shot but in the absence of photos, it may be worth a shot. I remember the Golden Cross/Sheepscar location well. Across the road there was what I believe was Sheepscar Street and Appleyards of Leeds, a large dealership for Morris etc. There is a dealership in Leeds called Colin Appleyard. If he is a grandson or descendant of the original Appleyards owner, he may have photos of the dealsrhip showing the area. My next door neighbour was the maintenance manager there.

A good way to search Leodis is to use Google images search and put "site:leodis.net" as one of the things to search for. Here's the junction of Sheepscar Rd North and Chapeltown Rd in 1951 at http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... AY=FULLAnd now on Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/ncpRfYou can track Sheepscar Rd North on Google Maps but it's been blocked off and turned into a service road and cycle lane. Would be good to have some that look south towards Sheepscar St South from Sheepscar St North and Chapeltown Road, and down from Meanwood Rd into the city.

That image made me Phill. I've seen and photographed that door a number of times but have never spotted the 'face' before. I took this photo on June 4 2013. The clock has not been working for quite some time now. Talking of the clock I wonder how many have spotted that there is a clock on 3 of the 4 sides, none of which are working (as far as I recall). I bet the clock was working in that great black & white photo!
