It is still a family business, as far as I know. I was at school with one of Mr Craggs daughters. There was a cobbler in a street off Church Lane, LS15 that was a dark room - can't remember his name - is it the same one that did the collections?

My dad and his brother, Rob, were both cobblers.dad used to work for Coombes(sp), Uncle Rob had a shop in the markets, before they burnt down, and also had a shop on Selby Road. When my dad retired he got a shed built in the back yard and bought a heap of shoe repairing gear, nothing unusual to see him walking down to the Adrian Social Club with a sack full of repaired shoes for the locals. On my birth certificate it showed my dads employemnt as a Journeyman. Anyone know why a cobbler would be known as a journeyman?
