Hi all,Sorry about the downtime everyone, we're investigating the root problem of the recent failures just now. Problem is really that the system it was built in originally wasn't ideal, largely due to only having a very small budget available and there were a number of technical limitations in place at that time too. The site's relative success has enabled me to plan a rebuild for the site, and I'm waiting for some options at the mo. The tricky bit will be keeping all the existing info and pictures - not all that simple as you can possibly imagine! As for all you paranoid androids out there, I assure you there is no conspiracy to blackmail Marketing Leeds into funding out of hours tech support......The SL site is a small part of our overall web portfolio, and the hosting isn't paid for individually, it sits on our main server for leedsliveitloveit.com... Part of the problem has been the old architecture of the main Leeds site taking up all the available server space (some enormous stats logfiles, I won't go into detail!) - a new version is about to be launched and hopefully that will make the whole server a bit more stable......We pay virtually nothing for upkeep on SL - e-commerce sites pay thousands and thousands a month for their servers and support, and generally ensuring that they don't go down. Unless you want to see advertising all over SL, that level of support isn't going to be an option!...The site's not really funded by the council either - it's Marketing Leeds money, and we get our funding from a number of sources, the majority of it is not from LCC...... Education Leeds don't use the same server, but yes Microsoft DotNetNuke was the standard required by LCC when we launched our sites. Thankfully we are now moving away from that architecture - cos it's completely rubbish. Open source all the way from now on in, thank the lord. And no Si, as you can see we no speaka de Eengleesh in this houses Think that covers most things - will update you if I have any more info.Cheers,The absolutely essential... dsco

'Microsoft DotNetNuke 'Just love it - not sure what we'd do without them all togather but, don't you just love the restrictive makeup of Microspot!Take it we might be up for a php free-ranger version that circumvents all that then?

Thanks for that Duncan, typical councils, won't use anything if they can't pay for it (and then not pay for other things). I hope something positive comes out of it - I know from bitter experience that it's like trying to push smoke through a keyhole sometimes.
