I certainly didn't intend it to feel that way. FUMSI is a journal about 'Web2.0' & new ways of communicating on the internet (FUMSI stands for Find, Use, Manage, Share Information). So when I was talking about Secret Leeds 'enabling' people to do new things, I didn't mean US enabling YOU... I meant the website itself - and the collective contributions of the registered users.

So when I was talking about Secret Leeds 'enabling' people to do new things, I didn't mean US enabling YOU... I meant the website itself - and the collective contributions of the registered users. Putting aside the disappointing inaccuracies of the written content of the thread, I suspect much of this comes down to perceptions doesn't it? As many have found with this media format, it is easy to misrepresent one's self, with the absence of vocal intonation and vissible body language, which whether we realise it or not does contribute to the understanding of thing we say. I regularly email to an audience of some 500 people and I soon discovered how easy it can be to offend, however accurate and well intentioned the content may be - that the article was inaccurate may well have encouraged people to look for other 'failings'. I do therefore agree with cnosni and I would be very disappointed to think that the reality was anything different. The site has developed (not just changed). There was a time when posts such as 'Digger's at it again....' would have met with a rebuke and the posts at that time were inanimate and factual. As people have come to know one another, both in person and in this virtual world, a degree of conversation has developed which I think has been significant in the evolution of the site. SL is a site which attracts people from a very diverse range of backgrounds and interests. All (almost!) are made welcome and seem to be treated as equals, certainly, everyone has something to contribute either directly or as a stimulus to something bigger but it is perhaps that because of this diversity that care has to be taken in how we present ourselve to the wider audience.Once this discussion has cleared the air, it would be nice of course to see a further article in FUMSI - perhaps enlarging on the Skulls story rather than simply correcting; such an article would really show the degree of empowerment (that buzword again), dedication and concern with which Leeds people can demonstrate.

I notice no attempt appears to have been made to edit or remove the fabricated 'skulls' article.Should I be surprised?
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.
