I used to go to the Ostler's for a few and then on the train to Samantha's in Sheff for the all-nighters - 1975.

Hullo EFL,We probably bumped into each other in the Central circa late 70's.Remember the Ska/Reggae nights that they used to have a bit earlier when it was full of Crombie Boys. Also, what did they called that pub before it was Barbarella's. Was it The Admiral if the old memory's correct?

Remember em well Ruff, brings a smile dunt it, thinkin how cool we thought we looked.I remember that pub as Barbarella's, and I think you are right it was the Admiral. Did you venture into the the Duncan over the road with the Mucky Duck round the corner, that was a scarey pub for a young crombie boy/soul head!

HiI am desperately trying to trace Martin, the bouncer at Ricky's (and latterly The Gallery), Leeds, from the late 80's to early 90's. He was a really tall black guy and always looked out for us early ravers! We are having a reunion and really want him there.Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks.

You're right EFL, we did look cool. Was in the Duncan a few years back with some of the Belfast Whites over for a game. Had a skinful in O'Reillys, bit of singing with the Irish Band and then on to Duncan for some Karaoke. The landlord bollocked me for bringing one of these Irish lads in cos he was so off his face. Thought that was in keeping with 95% of the punters in there, didn' you?Remember going in the Mucky Duck for the first time when I was about 18. I've never seen as many scary, tattooed villains in my life. And that was just the women! What's the MD now? iis it some Yuppy cafe or wine Bar?

I remember Martin, lovely guy. Looked out for us hairy buggers from downstairs too! Must have been close to seven foot tall, hands like shovels. I saw him chuck a couple of guys out of Ricky's one night by picking them both up by their belts, one in each hand, and throwing them through the downstairs fire exit. Last time I saw him was some time in the late 90s, I was walking down Boar Lane one Saturday afternoon and he was working the door at the Square.
